THE MAX CURDY LIBRARY AT UUCCV

booksOur library collection is located in our front office and exists to assist our faith community in spiritual development and knowledge. Resources found there include an emphasis on Unitarian Universalism, but also include holy texts and writings from many other faiths, philosophies, spiritual practices, and world religions.

Because the vast majority of Unitarian Universalists come as adults to our liberal religious faith, the library’s role in education and faith development is crucial. We seek to provide resources that increase the understanding of Unitarian Universalism, its history, attitudes, beliefs and practices. Numerous books are available for this kind of study.

Many other books provide messages of support and encouragement, inspiration and strength – for those at all stages of life, faith development, abilities and circumstances. Above all, we welcome your search, as we promote a peaceful and just world community.

Using the Library – Books can be checked out any time the church is open for services or meetings. Checking books in or out of the library is by the honor system, and instructions are posted on the black index card box there on the shelves.

Requests – Library users looking for other specific UU books or materials might refer to the “in Spirit” UU catalog available there in our Library, and then order online at www.uua.org/bookstore.

Congregation members may also submit a written request for purchase of a certain book for the library, which will be ordered as funds allow. Priority is given to collecting resources on our UU faith tradition and its current developments, liberal theology, and spirituality.

Donations – We will gladly accept donations of books in good condition that fit into the focus of our collection. All donations will be reviewed and evaluated, and any items we cannot use will be properly disposed of. Please leave donations on the office desk, not on the shelves, so that they may be added to our list before shelving.
